Ohhh boy. Getting into some real opinionated stuff right here.
Now, I’d like to start this off by saying, no, I am not dissing the other fighting games in the world- more traditional, Street Fighter-esque, health-bar based fighting games. Rather, this is just me venting about a video game series I personally love. It’s a series that has given me countless hours of entertainment and created great memories, and so, I am absolutely, totally biased here, but hey, I think there’s at least a bit of substance to it.
That said: let me present my argument, if you’d like to hear it, as to why the Super Smash Bros series is the best fighting game series in the history of gaming- or at least, why it’s my favorite.

Low-key, Warcraft III was probably one of my favorite games as an adolescent.
Both Reign of Chaos and expansion, The Frozen Throne, provided me hours, and hours of replay value, even without knowledge of the in-game level editor and online functionality. It was simply a fun game, with an honestly great plot, unique characters, and an engaging fantasy world. I had a ton of fun with it, and I thought, for this Thursday, I’d simply talk about the 2002 game, and what it brought to the table.

ESports, or electronic sports, has blown up in recent years. I’m sure you’ve heard of some of the games featured- DOTA 2, Street Fighter, freaking League of Legends? More and more people are watching these contests, the prize money is growing, and the eSports industry is only growing larger and larger. But, how did this happen? How were eSports even born?
